Chris Groves
As a Classically Trained artist, (Florence Academy of Art, Colorado Academy of Art) Groves believes one should strive to possess a greater knowledge and control of expression in his art. "You must understand the true development of art, its history and classical beginnings, in order to move forward with what you are trying to express".
Grove’s love of art grew from his early experiences with nature and the introduction to a classically trained master sculptor. He knew what he wanted to become from a very early age and was fortunate to have been encouraged to pursue his passion.
Years spent training in Ateliers and privately with classically trained artists, in Europe and the USA, were priceless for his development. "I want to be able to give back to others wanting to gain this knowledge, just as I had (and still have) that desire of learning what came before me".
Groves is currently an Instructor at the Colorado Academy of Art and member of the Portrait Society of America. Most recently, Groves was chosen to paint full, life-size portraits of the 10th and 11th circuit Bishops of Colorado. Chris has had numerous one-man shows around the United States and has been featured in the American Art Collector magazine.
Groves is married to his wife Amy, and is father of their three small children: Taylor-Claire, age 5, Kasen, age 3 and Anders, age 1.
